Identifying and changing mindsets
Identifying mindsets
Each of us has an approach to challenge, failure, success, and creating strategies. The way we assess our success, or lack thereof, varies from person to person. If you would like to assess whether you tend to use more of a growth or a fixed mindset, you can complete the Test Your Mindset activity that is on Dr. Dweck's Mindset website. You can access this test by following the link below.
Changing mindsets
Research in the areas of self-efficacy and mindset strongly indicate that mindsets can be changed, that a person can develop self-efficacy. This change can be critical to both to your success and to how you enjoy that success.
Dr. Dweck's website also offers a way to create a step-by-step plan for changing your mindset. You are welcome to follow this plan for yourself or to work through it with your child.

One of our students interview the school principal about mindset
This video shows an interview of Dr. Kelly Hedrick, the principal of the Old Donation Center for the Gifted and Talented. Charlotte, one of the second grade students there asks her to talk about how she, as principal, supports the development of a growth mindset in the school for the students and for the teachers. The insights of this highly effective principal illustrate how a climate can be set that encourages the development of a growth mindset throughout a school. |
